Guide to domain name transfers

This guide aims to simplify the process so domain transfers are hassle-free. We are happy to help you transfer your domains from your current registrar, without any downtime or interruptions to your business.

We offer full control of your domains whois details and nameservers. Some domain name customers have their website hosted elsewhere, but most choose our website hosting packages.

The IEDR (IE Domain Registry) require the admin-contact to provide a signed letter on headed paper authorising a domain transfer. Please either email our sales department a scanned signed copy of the letter or fax your signed letter to +353 1 653 5354. We recommended this text:

The letter must be signed by the current admin contact (as listed on the whois). If this person has changed your letter must also include the text:

The person listed as admin contact, THEIR NAME, no longer works with the company.
I am now responsible for this matter.

Please note: The IEDR opening times are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Most transfers can be completed the same working day.

.com / .net / .org / .info / .biz domain transfers

biz domains

These domains transfer differently. Their respective registrars all produce an email which is sent to the admin contact listed on the whois database. If you do not have access to the email address listed, you will need to ask your current register to change the email.

To start the transfer, the domain must be unlocked and the owner must provide an EPP Code (Transfer Authorization Key). Your current register can provide you with both of these.

If your current register is an ISP such as UTV Internet, Eircom or BT Esat, please ensure your account has no outstanding payments or they may refuse the transfer.

Please note: It is not possible to transfer domains which are under 60 days old. Transfers typically take 7 working days, although sometimes a lot faster.
